Brandon Vick to serve on most committees of any state representative

Rep. Brandon Vick, R-Felida, was recently appointed to two new fiscal committees: the House Appropriations Committee and the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education. Vick is the only member in the House of Representatives serving on a total of six committees.

“As someone who has spent his professional life in small business, Brandon brings an important perspective to the Appropriations Committee. When it comes to creating a budget, he understands accountability and what it means to set priorities,” said House Republican Leader Dan Kristiansen. “We are all looking forward to him being a part of decisions that involve state fiscal policy.”

The House Appropriations Committee considers the operating budget, global fiscal issues such as pension policy and compensations, and bills with larger fiscal impacts. The committee also coordinates budget development for the Appropriations subcommittees.

The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education makes funding recommendations for early learning, K-12, and higher education, and also considers education-related legislation with limited fiscal impacts.

“This is a great honor and responsibility,” said Vick. “I am proud that our leadership feels I am capable and I look forward to serving my community and hearing the outstanding ideas from constituents.

Vick will continue to serve on the Business and Financial Services, Finance, Government Accountability and Oversight, Technology and Economic Development and the Legislative Ethics Board.
