official portraitRep. Brandon Vick, R-Felida, was recently appointed to serve as the ranking Republican on the House Business and Financial Services Committee during the 2015 legislative session. As a ranking member, Vick will take the lead on caucus discussions regarding issues covered by the committee.

“As part of a family that has spent more than 50 years in a small business, I'm very excited to assume this leadership role on the committee,” said Vick. “I'm looking forward to tackling the broad range of issues the committee covers and working on solutions with my colleagues in the state Legislature to ensure local businesses and employers have the opportunity to flourish, and not be burdened by onerous regulations. I consider it a huge honor to have been chosen for this position, and am humbled by the decision.”

Vick's family owns and operates a landscaping business.

The committee also considers issues relating to insurance, including: the activities of the Office of the Insurance Commissioner and the Pollution Liability Insurance Agency; the solvency of insurance companies, and their rates and practices. Issues relating to the safety and stability of state banks and credit unions, the regulations of consumer credit and lending, and consumer protection are also considered.
